The Dinner Date's Not Dead

Nowadays, there's so much pressure to come up with great date ideas that will impress your wife or girlfriend. It can be stressful when it's time to plan date night, but too many men put way too much thought into the matter. Skip the concerts, get off the dance floor, and put down the bungee cords--a trip to a fancy restaurant is, and always has been, the king of dates. Here are three reasons why taking your date on a fine dining experience is the still the ultimate romantic experience.

1. It's impressive

Whether you're on your first date or your thousandth, a night at a fancy restaurant is always impressive. It shows your date that you're willing to spend money on her and that you want to treat her to something nice. Doesn't she deserve a glass of wine and a decadent meal?

You'll also have the chance to show your date just how well you clean up. Dressing up for a night out will show her that you're mature and presentable--someone she can take home to her parents. It's much harder to make that statement while you're shoving popcorn in your face and laughing at a movie screen.

2. It's intimate

The whole point of a date is to get to know each other and spend some quality time together. That's what makes fine dining ideal for new or old couples. The lights are low, the candles are lit, and there's plenty of time to talk while you're waiting for dinner to come to the table. At the same time, a bit of silence isn't uncomfortable with the soft music and low chatter around you.

Going out to a movie, a baseball game, or even to a bar might be more exciting, but sitting close together at a quiet restaurant is the best way to feel alone when you're in public. The atmosphere of fine dining also makes it harder to succumb to the urge of breaking out your cell phone. Texting during a date can be the ultimate mood killer.

3. It's fun

The Internet is littered with thousands of suggestions for "fun" date ideas that get you up and moving, but fine dining can be just as fun. Everyone loves dressing up, and it gives you a chance to wear the fancy clothes that hang in your closet for special events. You also get the chance to try foods you rarely get the chance to taste, like foie gras or escargot. Being at a fancy restaurant gives you the excuse to act like a celebrity for the night.

Even if you don't follow table etiquette perfectly, a faux pas can be an inside joke that brings you and your date even closer together. It's much less embarrassing than getting up in front of a crowd for karaoke or sweating in the sun during a round of minigolf, anyway.

Choosing A Better Menu For Your Restaurant

When it comes to running a restaurant, it isn't easy to do everything right. When I opened my first place, I decided to fill the menu with family favorites. Unfortunately, my selections fell flat when our place actually opened, which caused a lot of financial trouble. However, after years of trying different foods and testing them out with the public, I have been able to tailor our menu for our customer base. This website is designed to help you to do the same thing. Check out these articles that can help you to learn more about ingredients, food safety, and menu selections.
